Where did you ride this weekend?

2012 Bike Jersey - San Diego CenturyWhere did you ride this weekend?

It’s been such fun that we’re going to make a regular weekend thing of it!  Get out and ride, let us know and grab your chance at a 2012 San Diego Century bike jersey.  Tap a few keys to answer, “Where did you ride this weekend?” and that’s all there is to it.

Keep in mind the free group rides on Saturdays with Revolution Bike Shop and Trek Bicycle Superstores Ride Guides.  It’s a great way to meet riders at every level, and have great support for the longer weekend road rides.

If you haven’t participated yet, we will be giving away San Diego Century bike jerseys this week (and every week until 5/19) with some fun website contest questions.  Two winners who participate this week will each receive a free 2012 San Diego Century bike jersey.  This week we are splitting it up for one jersey giveaway on the weekend, and one for the week.

Whether or not you want to participate, be sure to check out our 2012 merchandise, including the jersey, t-shirts and caps.

The regular weekender question is “Where did you ride this weekend?”  Share your ride route and your GPS track from your GPS device or phone.  Post a comment below with your answer to get in on the Jersey contest. You may also post your answer and GPS track on our Facebook page.

Win a San Diego Century 2012 Bike Jersey. The best comments between Saturday morning and 11:59 pm  Monday  are eligible.  The judging team from San Diego Century will select the winning comments on Tuesday/Wednesday, with the winner posted later in the week.

I road along the beautiful Pacific. From my home down to El Camino Real over to La Costa Blvd and out to the coast. Up PCH101 into Carlsbad and back. Today the Pacific was gorgeous, no marine layer and BLUE!!!!!!

I did my usual: go fast on the go fast bike. From La Jolla I set out on the treacherous 101 and ventured north into the uncharted territory of Rancho Santa Fe. Unencumbered and unmarked I got lost for the next two hours and eventually rolled back down the coast. Sometimes the best rides are the ones you’ll never be able to repeat… but will surely reminisce about with a grin on your face.

On Saturday, I did a 2-hr, 30-mile loop from Los Alamitos which included Shoreline Marina (Long Beach), then a climb up Signal Hill (great view). I had a stranger take my picture on the hill with my phone so I could send it to my biking buddy, who was stuck at the office. From the Hill, it’s a nearly straight shot back home along Stearns & Willow. For a relatively short ride, the hill made it a nice workout. The route is here: http://www.mapitnow.com/?maproute=72033 .
On Sunday, my buddy and I did 43 miles, in 3 hours, on Coyote Creek and San Gabriel River Bike Paths, turning around at Whittier Narrows. We had a Santa Ana wind that morning, so by the time we reached Whittier Narrows, we were bucking a decent headwind. But that just made for a fun downwind trip back down towards the ocean. This was an out-and-back ride. The outbound route is here: http://www.mapitnow.com/?maproute=72006.
