I road with North Coast Velo this morning. We took an inland route to San Marcos. With a long, winding, narrow stretch (no bike lane) things got a little exciting when a vehicle bumped (mirror on keister) the last person in our group!!! Dave was up and riding again after catching his breath. Thankfully. The ride ended on a better note as we deviated from our scheduled route…returning via Faraday/Cannon to ride the 101 back to Oceanside. After all, we live in southern California!

My friends and I have made our weekend ride a weekly ritual. Saturday or Sunday- Cold or Hot, We ride from Camp Pendleton to the La Jolla / Interstate 5 turnaround. The Torrey Pines climb is what we look fwd to the most. I chase my buddy on his Cannondale while riding my Trek 3 Series Mtn Bike. Rides like this one give a great workout and camaraderie!!! 58 total miles. Marines!!! Always Setting the Pace!!!

Rode from my house out to Pendleton to do the Bulldog race route. It’s always a trip wondering what kind of mood the MPs are in. After going thru the Del mar gate for years I was told that cyclists can only enter thru the main gate because the bridge over the 5 is too dangerous. I asked him if crossing over a freeway offramp with cars going 80 mph is safer?? Just a dumb look. Not gonna argue w/ a 20 y/o with a gun. Used the main gate.

I rode with my friend out in Palm Springs on friday, we started out from the P.S. Visitors Center and rode our way up to the base of the P.S. Aerial Tramway. This being our first time up the road on a bike we got a glimpse at how steep 2500 ft. elevation over about 3.5 miles actually is. On the way back down her breaks popped loose, we ended up talking a long walk back down all we rode up and gave ourselves quite the calf workout!!

This ride was slow going this time but we made it to the top in 1.5 hrs (lots of short breaks), we made a deal to make this a weekly part of our training process and look forward to attempting it again next week and every week after that to assist in preparing for the Three Witches Climb!!!!!
